Nagpur: NMC corporator Purushottam Nagorao Hajare (Cong) has been banished for a period of two years due to his involvement in various crimes of serious nature. His orders for banishment were issued by Dy Commissioner of Police, Zone 3, Abhinash Kumar on July 31, Friday. Hajare is a Congress-party corporator in the NMC from Panel (Prabhag) No. 35-B, Paradi.

Aged 37 years and resident of Plot No. 111, Paradi, behind Police Chowki, Purushottam Hajare had a criminal background and several cases were registered against him at Kalmana police station.

It is alleged that Hajare with his accomplices had shot at Bhartiya Janata Party worker Jagdeesh Lanjewar during the Lok Sabha elections concluded a year ago. He was also involved in many cases and did not budge from his criminal acts. It is really surprising to know how he could become a corporator of NMC despite his criminal background while the citizens with clean image are left in the lurch. Such a situation speaks ‘ill’ of the current level of politics in the country.

In compliance with the DCP’s orders of his banishment from the Nagpur city and Nagpur (Rural) vicinity for 2 years, the police personnel picked him up and dropped him at Jawahar Nagar area under district Bhandara. In case he enters Nagpur city and does not strictly follow his banishment he will have to face stern police action.
