Nitin Gadkari to launch Web Portal to give momentum to Heavy Transport

 

In sync with the GOI policy of going digital and turning towards e governance, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari will launch a web portal for online approval of movement of Over Dimensional (OD) and Over Weight Cargo (OWC) in Delhi onJan 6th.The launch will be accompanied by a day-long seminar on “Heavy Transport in India: Entering a New Era Through Digitization”

The event will have participation of about 250 major stakeholders like heavy equipment manufacturers, project owners, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies. Various research and academic institutes will also take part in formulating a new path for the Transport sector.

It will be a path – breaking initiative to mark a new era for heavy transport in India by ensuring digitization in the sector.

Our country’s track record in this field is very dismal till now. As one expert in this field had commented at a recent conference in Mumbai – India is supposed to be the largest democracy in the world having the most extensive railway network and a very wide road network. But, ironically where is comes to the most important key to all infrastructure developments – industrial transport sector has been neglected the most.
