NIMH, CIIMS sign MoU to promote academics, research interaction and cooperation

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between National Institute of Miners’ Health (NIMH) andCentral India Institute of Medical Sciences (CIIMS) to promote academics and research interaction and cooperation. The MoU was signed during the valedictory function of the Tenth National Workshop on “Detection of Pneumoconiosis and use of ILO Classification 2000” organized by National Institute of Miners’ Health held on June 13, 2014 at Pride Hotel, Nagpur.  The NIMH, city based autonomous institute under Ministry of Mines, Government of India, in collaboration with Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) organized the workshop.

The chief guest of the function was Dilip Gode, Vice Chancellor of Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed University, Nagpur while Dr G M Taori, Director, Central India Institute of Medical Sciences (CIIMS) was the guest of honour. Around 22 delegates from various mining companies attended the programme.

Dilip Gode, in his address said that India is way behind in research activities in comparison to the western world and appealed to the delegates to inculcate research habit and use the knowledge gained in the workshop for betterment of miners.

Dr Taori stressed upon early detection of Pneumoconiosis which will prove immensely helpful for mining industry and mining workers.

Sr. Research Officer of NIMH Dr. S Nandi proposed the vote of thanks.
