Nagpur: A week after the early morning daylight shootout of architect and valuer Eknath Nimgade, the police are still groping in the dark with no clue as yet. Sources said that the CCTV clippings of the incident failed to help cops yield any substance as the video was too blurred to conclude on anything.
The crime branch is interrogating the suspect Maqsood Ali Siddique without much success. The police have recovered footage from 25 CCTV cameras from the vicinity of murder spot and on the road but the videos have proved worthless due to their inferior quality. A senior cop of tehsil police station said, “The video clips of the assailant captured in the CCTV camera were blurry.”
Seventy-two-year-old Nimgade was shot dead by a masked assailant at Lal Imli Road near Central Avenue on September 6. The attackers, said to be contract killers, are yet to be nabbed.
Nimgade had sustained five bullet injuries and died while undergoing the treatment at Mayo Hospital. He was shot over a dispute of property on Wardha road worth nearly 200 crore, said Tehsil police.
