NIMACON 2013 renews knowledge base of doctors

Indian Medical Association Nagpur organized a two-day unique event 11th Annual Conference NIMACON-2013. This concluded with a valedictory function at IMA hall on November 17, 2013.

The second day’s sessions started with the Scientific Lecture on “Social Security Schemes” delivered by Dr. Prashant Nikhade. This was followed by a session of Dr. Abdul Qureshi and Dr. Niramal Jaiswal who spoke eloquently on “Breaking Bad News and Tropical fevers” like Dengue, Malaria and Swine Flu respectively. They reminded the audience as to how important it is be sensitive to the mood of the family members who will receive the bad news.

Other sessions included an oration of Hepatologist Dr. Sushila Nayar who spoke on “Hepatocellular Carcinoma”. This also included lectures delivered by Director Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh Dr. Yogesh K. Chawla. Eminent Psychiatrist from Mumbai Dr. Vihang Vahia gave very vital information regarding “Sequel to Success” and “Surviving the Success”. He made this lecture very interesting with examples. The entire session was very lively.

A session on “Common symptoms of Missed Cancer” was delivered by Dr. Anand Pathak. He focused on the recent issues and signs and symptoms of missed cancers and its diagnosis.

Dr. Priya Periera spoke on Cervical Cancer as a disease, Burden and its Vaccination followed by the other session Capsules comprising Syncope, UTI, Urticaria and Pre-Marital Counseling delivered by Dr. Surendra Suryawanshi, Dr. S. Bhole, Dr. Atul Salodkar and Dr. Chaitanya Shembhekar respectively.

A debate and panel discussion on ‘Doctors themselves are responsible for their present day plight’ was also held by senior doctors and panelists. This session brought out the real situations and how one should face it. The entire session was lively and had every member of the audience and panelist participating with vigour and enthusiasm. So much so, that the organizers, participants of the debate and panelist were awarded at the valedictory function.

The two-day seminar concluded with a valedictory function. This function was compered by Organising Secretary Dr. Archana Kothari. Other prominent doctors present on the occasion were President of IMA Nagpur Dr. Warhsa Dhawale, Patron IMA MS Dr. Ashok Adhao, Seretayy IMA Dr. Vaishali Khandait, Org Chairperson Dr. Vandana Kate, Chairman National PPS Dr. Krishna Parale, and Chairman Scientific Committee Dr. Prashant Nikhade.
