Nagpur News: Sadar Police Station is the protector of Maharashtra Government and its citizens in the Second Capital City of Nagpur. Right from the bungalows of Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, entire Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State, Speaker, Deputy Speaker of Vidhan Sabha (Assembly), Chairman, Deputy Chairman of Vidhan Parishad (Council), colossal MLA Hostel housing the 288-strong MLAs, 100-odd MLCs, guest houses for topmost officials of Government and quarters of lower ranked employees during the Winter Session of Maharashtra Legislature to offices of Divisional Commissioner, Collector, Police Commissioner, Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, District and Sessions Court, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Nagpur Improvement Trust, Assembly Building, Reserve Bank of India, and several other important offices of State and Central Governments, posh areas like Civil Lines come under the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station. And not to forget thousands of esteemed citizens and hundreds of business houses and key markets. No surprise, Sadar Police Station is called the most sensitive and challenging one in the Second Capital.

Police Inspector Arun Mali has been given the charge of Sadar Police Station on 17.2.2014 after the transfer of Rajratan Bansod, who has been shifted to Nagpur Regional Police Training School as DySP. Earlier on November 30, 2013, Arun Mali was transferred to Nagpur from Pune on promotion. He was PSI in Pune. “My and the Department’s foremost goal is to curb crime with a heavy hand. There would be no question about it. The crimes like chain-snatching, house-breaking, crimes against women and senior citizens are on the high. My first priority would be to crack the whip against perpetrators of these crimes. Sadar Police Station has been equipped with four vehicles like patrol, mobile vans. Since the VIP areas and other sensitive areas have been coming under us, the patrolling would be heightened for safety and security of the citizens of all class. From morning walkers to night duty performers, everybody would be provided the security expected from the police. Intense patrolling and swift action are the most vital parts in curbing crimes of all nature and I would ensure that these tasks are performed well by my colleagues and other policemen of the Sadar Police Station,” asserted the Police Inspector.

“The most crucial role the Sadar Police Station would play is to keep a sharp eye on history-sheeters. The hardcore criminals in the book would not be spared and allowed to go scot-free. Such elements will be under constant watch and would be told firmly to report the Police Station regularly for enquiry and investigation purposes. If any crime of serious nature takes place, Sadar police would zero on these elements besides the perpetrators of the crimes. Cooperation and coordination between the police and citizens is must for the crime free society to some extends,” PI Arun Mali said.

The police officer further said that Sadar Police Station consists of 11 officers and 158 other policemen. Three chowkies (posts) come under the Police Station. “Equal distribution of responsibility among the beat officers and other police personnel would be ensured for the smooth functioning of the duties expected from them. No careless or negligent attitude of any personnel will be tolerated,” said the Police Inspector Arun Mali and thus putting the colleagues and the lower ranked policemen of Sadar Police Station on notice.

“Awareness and public relations are the aspects that play the significant role in achievement of the goal. Regular meetings with common citizens and traders, businessmen would form the special efforts of the Sadar Police Station in smashing crimes. Suggestions and advice would be sought from the citizens in dealing with any crisis situation. The businessmen, traders and other financial institutions in commercial areas will be advised to install CCTV cameras on must basis. The move helps in cracking many crimes. Similarly, network of informants will be strengthened in order to foil any crime before it takes the shape and also to solve the crimes already taken place more efficiently and swiftly,” Arun Mali said.

“I have accepted the challenge the Sadar Police Station poses. But I alone would not be successful in curbing the crimes. Cooperation of both, colleagues, policemen attached to the Police Station and the citizens as well is expected in facing the challenge. The public at large should not hesitate in approaching police for any trouble the criminal elements create for them. They can contact me on my mobile phone 8698092393 and the Sadar Police Station phone number 0712-2566619 for any difficulty or for giving any information regarding criminal activities taking place in their areas without fear. Action will be taken as soon as possible by the Sadar Police Station on its part to provide relief to the complainants and the information providers as well,” assured the Sadar Police Inspector Arun Mali on his concluding note.
