Nagpur: ICD Butibori, a venture by Glocal ICD Pvt. Ltd. started their operations on 15th March 2016. The Flag off of the first containers was done by the hands of Principal Commissioner A.K. Pandey, in presence of Commissioner (Audit) C.R. Meena, Additional CommissionerS.B. Akashi, Deputy Commissioner Pradip Gurumurthy and Assistant Commissioner Girish Vadassery from the Customs. Also present to witness the event were President of BMA Nitin Londkar along with other Committee Members, Secretary of NVCC Jayprakash Parekh, eminent Customs Brokers, representatives of Shipping Lines, Exporters and Importers.
The journey of the first Private Inland Container Depot (ICD –Dry port) in Vidarbha started almost 4 years back and culminated in the first Export containers from ICD Butbori being dispatched to JNPT of Ballarpur Industries Limited and Kasturi metal Composites Pvt. Ltd.
The inauguration ceremony was held at ICD Butibori where the principal Commissioner of Customs and other senior officials also interacted with members of BMA.
Managing Director of Glocal ICD Pvt. Ltd. D.S. Jha maintained that development of infrastructure to support the EXIM trade of the region was the need of the hour. He also mentioned that apart from being economical the focus was to provide a trade friendly environment, enable ease of business, customization of services and be open to innovative options of Cargo movement. While the Road movement was started at the launch, the Rail movement shall start by March end, connecting ICD Butibori to JNPT.
Abhishek Jha, Director Glocal ICD Pvt. Ltd. highlighted that ICD Butibori is now equipped to handle Export as well as Import consignments. They also have facilities to handle LCL cargo and Over Dimensional Cargo, a facility that was not possible up till now. He also mentioned in his briefing that beyond cost effectiveness the company also wanted to offer speed in movement and reliability while claiming that they could get a container on board a vessel within 6 days from date of stuffing using the road option. Another first would be the Road connectivity to Hazira Port in Gujrat which is an alternative to JNPT and also customs cleared cargo shall be moved by trucks directly to Benapole, Bangladesh without having to be unloaded at Petrapole Border.
While the exporters in Butibori shall definitely benefit from this ICD next door, the other catchment areas would be Hingna, Hinganghat, Chandrapur, Amravati, Gondia and other adjoining areas.
