New CT scan machine to be installed in GMC.

The radiology department of Government Medical College will get a new CT Scan Machine. Bhumipoojan for the required building and dedication of this machine was conducted on Tuesday. Possibilities of the first trial of the machine is said to be by December. This machine will be imported from Philips, Holland. Total investment for the machine is said to be about 14 crores. It is said that the radiation dose that would be given to the patient being scanned is far less compared to the existing ones and yielding better results too. 256 slices can be viewed on this machine. This machine will be the third in the country. Trivandrum and New-Delhi have one each. It would be the most advanced of the existing C.T. machines in the State. The machine has been procured under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY).
