New building of Puratatva Bhavan to be inaugurated on Oct 24

Nagpur: Archaeological Survey of India, Ministry of Culture, is proud to announce the inauguration of its new building,“Puratatva Bhavan” at the premises of Bungalow No.11 opposite Balaji Temple, Seminary Hills, Nagpur on 24th October 2015 at 04.00 P.M. The opening ceremony will be graced by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (independent charge) and Civil Aviation, Government of India.

Archaeological Survey of India established its establishment at Nagpur in the year 1958 in the Old High Court Building premises.

The prestigious Branch offices of the Excavation Branch-I, Prehistory Branch and Epigraphy Branch (Arabic& Persian) have been doing pioneering research work in the various faculties of Archaeology and Ancient History since then, officiating from the Old High Court Building, Civil Lines.

The Bhoomipujan of the new building was done on 6th of August, 2003 and has been completed over these years by the CPWD.  All three branch offices of the Archaeological Survey of India will be shifted to the new building. The Old High Court Building shall be housing the Nagpur circle office.
