Prime Minister Narendra Modi should desist from making vile statements against other parties
Nagpur: The General Secretary of the Nationalist Congress Party and the former Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing held a press meet on October 9, 2014. Tarik Anwar was in the city to campaign for the Candidates contesting on NCP ticket.
City President of NCP Ajay Patil introduced Tarik Anwar to the media personnel. While addressing the media personnel, Tarik Anwar said that he is on a 6-day-tour of the entire Maharashtra including villages.
This time the election in Maharashtra is going to be very different, since all the parties are going to contest the polls independently based on their own strength and will have to prove their mettle to get elected.
Tarik added that the citizens of Maharashtra have an opportunity to assess and judge the candidate based on the past performance.
While elaborating the past polls, he said that after its inception in 1999, NCP went into election barely in 100 days to contest in both Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. Tarik added that we got a surprising 58 seats. Being a new party we had got the mass support of the people.
When the time came to form a government we chose to get in alliance with Congress party. We contested and won polls two times in a row. However, this time, once again we are contesting the polls alone. The citizens of Nagpur know us and our pro-active work towards progress and development of the areas. We have intensified the campaign work and are reaching out to the masses in various ways like Padyatra, rallies, door-to-door campaign etc.
In an exclusive brief talk with Nagpur Today, Tarik Anwar lauded the significant works performed by Former MLA Dinanath Padole, he said that the area knows him well and so does he. He has brought about significant development of the area. His efforts can be seen in the area. So I am sure, people will vote for him for a consistent development of the area in future too.
While speaking about Corporator Pragati Patil, he said that being a lady, she knows the needs, problems of every woman and she will represent the women and will certainly fight for those needs if elected to power. He claimed that NCP is the only party that has given equal rights to both the sexes and have given ticket to a woman candidate.
While answering to a question about his stand on various allegations of corruption against the NCP party leaders of Maharashtra, he answered saying, every party keeps pointing to the corruption committed by other political parties, while they themselves cannot claim to be clean.
While expressing his ire over the comments made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his public rallies in Maharashtra, Tarik Anwar said that before Lok Sabha elections he made many statements and it was ok then since he was not holding any position, however, now he is the Prime Minister and to make such vile statements about the leaders of other political parties does not hold well with the dignity of the position. The language that he uses should be appropriate keeping in mind the dignity of the Prime Minister’s post. This speaks of how low the BJP can stoop to win the elections.
While answering a question about the alliance, he said that we had an offer from BJP led by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, but we chose Congress party since their ideologies match with ours. He reiterated that we will and can never go into alliance with BJP or Shiv Sena.
While explaining how they can win after breaking the alliance with Congress Party, he said that the Congress party already has started to feel the vacuum we have left behind. It is democracy and people will vote for us or for the Congress party because of the development works we had done in the state.
It is NCP led by Sharad Pawar’s contribution that the Food Security Bill was passed in the country. Ministries like Dairy and Farming are really doing well. We are number one producers of Milk, Vegetables and Fruits. He claimed that the faith and trust that people have on our leaders will ensure good voting for NCP leaders.
