He informed that a formal proposal has already been submitted to the Maharashtra Chief Minister seeking approval for establishing Drone Training Hubs in both Nagpur and Pune under the broader vision of the Viksit Bharat Mission. The upcoming facility in Nagpur is expected to train NCC cadets not only from Vidarbha but from across the country.

Highlighting the scope of the project, Maj Gen Tyagi said that cadets from all three wings of the NCC, Army, Navy, and Air Force, will receive specialised training in drone operations. The hub is also expected to function in alignment with the proposed NCC–DGCA Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO), further strengthening certified drone training capabilities.

“The Nagpur Group is poised to emerge as a leader in modern technology-driven training. By incorporating drone operations and advanced simulators, we aim to provide cadets with industry-relevant skills that go beyond traditional drills,” he said.

In addition to the drone hub, the Directorate is also planning to establish a full-fledged NCC Academy in Nagpur, though the project is expected to take time to materialise. The academy is envisioned as a centralised, high-quality training facility for youth in Vidarbha, offering modern infrastructure for all three NCC wings.

Maj Gen Tyagi also revealed that similar initiatives are underway in other parts of the state. Infrastructure work for an NCC Academy in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is expected to be completed within the next two years, while plans are in place to set up additional academies in Mumbai and the Konkan region.

Emphasising the broader vision, he said the goal is to nurture disciplined and responsible citizens with a strong sense of national pride. He also expressed concern over cadets discontinuing NCC in their second year and urged students to complete the programme and obtain the crucial ‘C-Certificate’, which can open up significant career opportunities.

With this initiative, Nagpur is set to emerge as a key hub for technology-driven youth training, marking a major boost for skill development and national preparedness in the region.
