NCC cadets pay tribute to Kargil heros

Nagpur: 400 NCC Girl cadets form 25 School and Colleges of Vidarbha region are undergoing an NCC Camp at M L A Hostel, Nagpur under the aegis of 3 Mah Girls NCC Battalion. The cadets are being trained in foot drill, field battle craft, map reading, tactics, hygiene and sanitation. The selected cadets will be representing NCC Group HQ, Nagpur in the Inter Group Competition being held in Kolhapur in the second week of August. The cadets are also undergoing firing with the 0.22 Rifle and negotiating the arduous obstacle course, despite the inclement weather. The grit and determination shown by the cadets is unbelievable.

For mental toughening and awareness lectures are being conducted for these cadets at the NCC camp at MLA Hostel. A trained psychologist, Mrs Manish Thakar was invited to give a lecture on stress management. She even taught the cadets Yoga exercises which can help in relieving stress.

Mr Prabhuraman, Principal Saraswati Vidyalaya, was invited to speak to the cadets on Ethics and the need to build up values to be responsible citizens. Mr Atul Agarkar from N-Cops Excellence was approached to guide the cadets on action to be taken to avoid cyber crime as well as aspects of women safety & crime against women. Lectures on First aid, traffic and road safety, National disaster relief management and fire safety were also conducted.

The cadets put up a splendid entertainment programme which was conducted in Deshpande Hall. The skills of the cadets were on display during this cultural event. Prizes were given to the winner of the various competition held during the camp. Group Capt V S Rana & Mrs Rana were the Chief guest and gave away the prizes to the deserving winners, During his address Group Capt V S Rana, Group Commander NCC Nagpur, complimented the cadets on successfully completing the NCC Camp, despite the grueling schedule. He complimented the prize winners and lauded the cadets who participated in the competition as it is more important to participate than to win. Apart from Lt Col Pankaj Sharma the Camp Comdt other officers of the Nagpur NCC group and civil dignitaries attended the function. The staff of MLA Hostel was very positive in providing administrative support to the NCC Battalion during the conduct of the camp.
