New Delhi/ Nagpur: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced to conduct National Eligibility Test (NET) annually and not twice a year. National Eligibility Test is a qualifying examination for college and University teachers and is also a selection procedure for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Yesterday, UGC had also dissipated the ambiguity around the JULY 2017 NET exam and had said that CBSE would conduct the exam even though the board had earlier expressed its inability to conduct the exam.

Various students will be unable to qualify JRF because of this decision due to exceeding the age limit. It is also being anticipated that the qualifying percentage will be decreased to top 6 percent from top 15 at present. Several student organisations are protesting against the decision. “This decision will cost their career to a lot of students. A candidate will have to wait for another whole year if they do not succeed in the examination”, said Akshay Mate, UGC NET aspirant.
