Nagpur: Tension ran high in the crowded Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) when body of a murdered woman was found lying in the bushes adjacent to Ward No 49 on Saturday morning. The body was naked and a pink-coloured sari was found lying nearby. It is being surmised that the woman was murdered somewhere else and her body was dumped in the GMCH premises. The accused killer(s) smashed her face with heavy stone with the intention of hiding her identity. Possibility of ‘gang-rape’ is also not being ruled out.

A team of cops including higher officials reached the spot and started investigations. Cops questioned nearby residents as well as relatives of patients admitted in different wards of the hospital in order to ascertain the identity of the murdered woman.

The naked body of the woman was spotted around 9.30 am on Saturday in the bushes near Ward No 49. Upon being informed, a team of cops from Ajni Police Station led by PI Shailesh Sankhe, DCP Zone 4 Ravindra Singh Pardesi, and crime branch team rushed to the spot. Cops found face of the woman smashed with stones to hide her identity. After completing panchnama of the body, cops sent it for post-mortem. A case has been registered and investigations launched to ascertain identity of the deceased, motive behind the murder as well as the identity of killer(s).

Cops have started scanning CCTV cameras installed nearby the spot. It is being speculated that the woman could have been murdered somewhere else and her body dumped in the GMCH premises. The spot is engulfed by total darkness during night. The pink sari found near the woman’s body could also provide a clue to the police. Possibility of ‘gang-rape’ of the deceased woman is also not being ruled out. Cops are awaiting the post-mortem report to confirm the fact.
