Nagpur’s Senior counsel Harish Salve in list of Padmabhushan recipients

harishsalveNagpur: It is a moment of pride for the city as former solicitor general and senior counsel Harish Salve’s name figures in the list of Padmabhushan recipients released by the union government on Sunday.

Salve completed his school education from SFS School in the city. His father, Late NKP Salve was a veteran Congress leader and mother Ambriti was a doctor. Salve’s paternal house is in Sadar. Salve was pursuing CA studies before switching over to law. He idolises renowned lawyer, Late Nani Palkhiwala.

Starting his practice in 1980, he practices in the Supreme Court. The Delhi high court nominated him as senior counsel. He served as solicitor general between November 1, 1999 to November 3, 2002. He has represented many prestigious companies like Reliance, Tata, Vodafone and others.

The selection of Harish Salve’s name for Padmabhushan award has brought cheer in the legal circles of the city. Lawyers across the city celebrated and hailed the government’s decision.
