Nagpur’s Dr Bodhankar gets Lifetime Achievement Award of COMHAD UK

Nagpur: City’s renowned paediatrician Dr Uday Bodhankar has become the first Asian to be honoured with the highest coveted Lifetime Achievement Award of COMHAD UK (Commonwealth Association For Health And Disability UK International NGO of 54 CW countries) for his outstanding contribution and exemplary dedicated health services for the welfare of specially challenged people.

This award has been bestowed in the presence of chief guest Lt General (retired) Dr Madhuri Kanitkar AVSM VSM, Vice Chancellor, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). Padma Bhushan Prof Shrinath Reddy, Director, Public Health Foundation of India; Dr Naveen Thacker, Global President of IPA and Dr Mrudula Phadke, Advisor UNICEF; Dr Ramesh Mehta, President, BAPIO, UK; Prof Rajaram Pagadala, former DGHS from USA; Prof Rawat, Dr Sunil Khaparde, Advisor, Minister of Health, Government of India; Dr Jayant Upadhye, National VP and Dr Yashwant Patil, International President, COMHAD.

The Chief Patron of CF is Her Majesty the Queen of England Elizabeth.

Dr Uday Bodhankar has been elected as the Executive Director of COMHAD UK since 2018. The Commonwealth Association for Health And Disability is a pan Commonwealth NGO supported by the Commonwealth Foundation London and is in official relations with WHO. COMHAD is a long standing partner of WHO in a number of technical areas, in particular mental health, disability prevention, maternal and child health and reproductive health.

It is actively involved in promoting health development, exchange of technical expertise and inter-country training and education in health in 53 Commonwealth countries all over the world.

COMHAD links professionals across the Commonwealth and advocates the prevention of brain damage due to birth asphyxia (lack of oxygen either before or immediately after birth) which causes mental neurological and sensory handicaps as an integral component of mother-baby care in Commonwealth developing countries.

FOGSI, ICMCH, MUHS, ICMR, UNICEF,WHO, COMHAD, CHPA UK, BAPIO UK and GAPIO have congratulated Dr Uday Bodhankar for receiving the highest international honour.
