The active workers of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Nagpur, jolted by the drubbing in the recent Lok Sabha elections and disillusioned by the style of working of district leadership, have demanded dissolution of Nagpur unit of party immediately. The district leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party Nagpur is solely responsible for the humiliating defeat in the recently held Lok Sabha election in Nagpur constituency. The local leadership should take responsibility and should immediately give up their positions held in the party otherwise the state leadership should step in and dissolve the most ineffective leadership the Nagpur unit has,” demanded the workers of AAP in a press conference held here on June, 11, 2014 at Tilak Patrakar Bhavan. “The local unit office-bearers behave as if the party is their own fiefdom and they are bosses and owners of a private limited company,” claimed the party workers.

Talking to the press, the active workers said that because of this attitude, many of them are hurt, and sometimes, are subjected to humiliation at the hands of the office bearers. The local workers were shocked when they came to know that Anjali Damania,  the state convener of the party, had tendered her resignation and two of the office-bearers of local unit Devendra Wankhede and Girish Nandgaonkar reacting irresponsibly by commenting that people will come and go and this is not a serious matter to be taken note of. Whereas the development was of a serious nature, workers were shocked. Instead of taking the stance of Damania seriously and expressing concern and going for self introspection, both  have commented in a lame way that people will come and go. This attitude of the local leaders shows that how callous and irresponsible they could be as far as organization is concerned, the workers said.

The party workers told media that a meeting of the common workers of the party has been organized here on Sunday, June 18, 2014 at 4.00 pm at Vidarbha Rashtra Bhasha Bhawan near Sawa Sadan School, adjacent to Amrut Bhawan, Ramdaspeth, The workers would give patient hearing to all the members of the party who want to air their grievance so that they can be sorted out amicably. The party workers have appealed to thousands of party workers to come forward and ensure their active participation.

The party workers said that without any directives from the higher leadership the local office bearers have started appointing their “yes” men as new office-bearers at the block level. Whereas, recently concluded National Executive Committee meeting had resolved to re-organize the entire party from the state to block level. Recently a team from Mumbai came to Nagpur to take stock of the happening after the Lok Sabha polls, in which the workers present in the “Chintan” meeting unanimously voiced for change of guard for the betterment of the party. But still the local office bearers are sticking to their positions, hence the common workers of the party have decided to initiate the process of re-building, expand and to take the party to the people.

Those who were present in the press conference include M K Khorgade, Baba Patel, Shanker Mourya and Shahid Hashmi.
