Wife and five other accomplices to be arrested in a day or two

In what could be mentioned as covert operation, the Investigating Officer of Economical Offenses Wing of Crime Branch Police Inspector Dane, finally arrested the multi-crore scamster Prashant Wasankar, his brother Vinay Wasankar and his brother-in-law Abhijeet Chaudhari for their involvement in duping innocent investors to the tune of crores on July 27, 2014.
The operation was started by PI Dane at 9 am. Sources in the crime branch told us that from 9 am, the crime branch officials were at the door of Wasankar. However, he refused to open the door. The officials had waited in the rain. However, at around 10:30 am, the cops thought it best to break open the door. They had even borrowed a crowbar from the labourer working near the house.
However, just as they were getting ready to hit the door Wasankar’s mother opened the door. As soon as the door was opened, the cops rushed in and arrested the trio. Sources in Crime branch also told us that Wasankar was asking time till 11:00 am of Monday, July 28, 2014.
However, after completing all the formalities, the cops took him to the Crime branch and finally lodged him at Ambazhari Police Station for the night.
Wasankar, his brother Vinay Wasankar and his Brother-in-law Abhijeet Chaudhari will have to spend the night in the jail cell like any other criminal.
The Investigating Officer of Economical Offenses Wing of Crime Branch Police Inspector Dane did not inform anyone that he is going to arrest Wasankar on Sunday morning since, if the news spreads out, he would have been pressurized against it by ever so many of Wasankar’s sympathizers.
Wasankar and his cohorts will be presented in the Court on July 28, 2014 in the first half to obtain PCR. Sources added that they have seized several incriminating documents from Wasankar’s residence. What remains to be seen is what information does the cops get out of Wasankar their investigation / interrogation during the PCR.
When Nagpur Today spoke to the Investigating Officer of Economical Offenses Wing of Crime Branch Police Inspector Dane and asked him why the wife of Prashant Wasankar and five others were spared from being arrested, the IO said that it is just a matter of two days and they too will be arrested for their involvement in duping innocent investors.
The news of Wasankar’s arrest spread like wild fire and as many as nearly 50 investors were present outside the police station till 10 pm to see what is going on.
