Nagpur-Tadoba road to get State Highway status

Nagpur: Congress MLA Jitendra Avhad, Jayant Patil and other members on Wednesday demanded the State Government to accord State Highway stutus to Nagpur-Tadoba road. The demand was raised in Legislative Assembly during Question Hour on third day of second week of Monsoon Session.

The Public Works Minister Chandrakant Patil, in written reply, said the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve is one of the major tourist attractions in state. Lakhs of tourists visit the place every year. For convenience of tourists, the stretch of road between Nagpur and Tadoba is 87 km long.

The people’s representatives of the region had on April 2, 2018, met the Chief Minister and Public Works Minister and put forth the demand. Subsequently, a comprehensive study was conducted over the demand. A proposal in this regard has also been received by the ministry from the Nagpur PWD’s Chief Engineer.

The shortcomings in the proposal would be sorted out in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations and the demand of people’s representatives would be met, the minister said.
