Nagpur: A National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) aspirant has moved the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, asserting that two questions in the exam were out of syllabus, and he is entitled to maximum marks for those questions.
Nagpur’s Shaureen Ambatkar, represented by senior counsel Akshay Naik and assisted by Rohan Deo, contended that one question each in physics and botany sections were not part of the syllabus.
In response, a division bench comprising Justices Avinash Gharote and Mahendra Chandwani constituted two committees of experts from top Nagpur colleges to examine the validity of these claims. Before deferring the hearing till August 9, the panels were directed to submit findings by August 8. “Additional Government t Pleader AS Fulzele will inform committee members of their inclusion and necessity of submitting their opinion,” the bench said.
The petitioner’s case is based on observations made by the Supreme Court on July 23 regarding the NEET controversy. Ambatkar argued that he falls under the top court’s ruling. Naik and Deo contended that the Supreme Court granted liberty to petitioners to approach the High Court if further discrepancies arose.
Earlier, NEET UG results 2024 were embroiled in a major controversy over paper leak. Things took a turn for the worse on June 4 following the declaration of the NEET UG results by the National Testing Agency (NTA) which eventually led to the opening of a pandora’s box of alleged anomalies and malfeasance. Mired in muck and controversy, the NTA faced challenges of a tall order so as to exculpate itself from the allegations levelled against it.
