Nagpur soon to have world class rly station

Nagpur: Days ahead the Nagpur Railway Station will be a world class station, informed Central Railway General Manager Devendra Kumar Sharma. Talking to the media persons on Tuesday, he said that efforts are on to acquire the land near the railway station. If the land adjacent to the station, the Defence ministry’s, MSRTC, MP bus stand is acquired then it can be put to a good use. After the intervention by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari the process has gained momentum. Once the work is over it would be world class.

On Tuesday Sharma was on an annual inspection of Nagpur Division. After completing his tour between Amla and Nagpur he spoke to the media persons in the DRM’s office and shared the information about the development works in the department. He said that in the last three months there have been comprehensive changes in railway department. This will bring positive change. In five years the Indian railway will get a complete face lift. The DRM and GM have been given powers because of which execution of construction work and schemes will gain speed.

Expressing his satisfaction over the tour the general manager lauded DRM Brijesh Kumar Gupta. He said that excellent work been done in Track Maintenance, Rolling Stock, Common Services and in other sectors, no doubt there is always scope for improvement. Talking of the Ajni bridge the general manager said in the present state there is no danger. Indian railway has very good civil engineers who have study the safety of bridge and there is no danger to it.


He further said that to minimize the consumption of the electricity Indian railway is making effective efforts. In Nagpur Division very good work of LED lights have be done. Till march everywhere in division there will be only LED lights. On all the platforms of Nagpur Station there will be escalators. The work of Railway NEER plant being set up with help of IRCTC will be completed by June in Nagpur. By the year end the Mechanised Laundry will start. Efforts will be made to run Memu train instead of passenger train. On all the station of the Division the NEER water will be sold. With the announcement of high speed train on Mumbai-Howrah route, Nagpur passengers will benefit.

He said that a though would be given to the time and running of the train on Nagpur-Pune route once a week.
