Nagpur: As the 10-day sojourn of Lord Ganesh comes to end for this year, Nagpur is set to bid a grand bye to their deity for this year and to pray for the lord’s arrival next year. On the administration’s part the NMC staff has also prepped up to give the lord an eco-friendly ‘vidaai’! The civic has provided 148 artificial tanks for immersions which will take place on Thursday.
At Nehru Nagar zone, plastic tanks have been put at eight places, at six places tanks are being provided to facilitate immersion of idols in artificial tanks. Each zone has been asked to provide artificial tanks, so people do not have to go to lakes for immersion. To create awareness, all zones are distributing pamphlets and also displaying posters at prominent places to promote use of artificial tanks.
Ganesh Mandals have also been asked to help in promoting artificial immersions. ”We have now decided to increase depth of one tank by another feet so four feet idols could also be immersed in artificial tank,” said an NMC official. These will be at Ajni Chowk, Ram Mandir ground at Vivekanand Nagar, Vyayamshala bus stop, Ujjwal Nagar ground, Pande Layout, Modern Society near overhead water tank, Azad Hind Nagar, Date Layout and H B Estate, Sonegaon.
Apart from these, the zone has also installed plastic tanks at five residential areas. Similarly, Hanuman Nagar zone would be providing 11 places for immersion.
