Nagpur : Amid rising temperatures and ongoing heat wave conditions, the Nagpur district administration has revised school timings to protect students from extreme heat.
As per the order issued by the District Disaster Management Authority, all Anganwadi centers, primary, and secondary schools across Nagpur will now function from:
7:00 AM to 10:30 AM
The decision comes after a significant increase in daytime temperatures, raising concerns over heat-related illnesses among children.
Officials stated that the move is a precautionary step under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, ensuring student safety during peak summer conditions.
This is not the first such measure in the city. In previous years, including 2024 and 2025, similar timing changes were implemented when temperatures crossed 45°C, with schools shifting to early morning hours.
Authorities have also advised schools and parents to ensure proper hydration, avoid outdoor activities, and take necessary precautions to prevent heatstroke.
The order has been circulated to all concerned departments for immediate implementation across the district.
