‘Nagpur Records Hottest Day of the Season at 39.2°C’

Nagpur: As the festival of colors kicked off on Sunday, Nagpur experienced the hottest day of the season with temperatures soaring to 39.2 degrees Celsius. Across Vidarbha, the mercury continues to rise, causing discomfort for residents amidst the scorching heat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts further increases in both day and night temperatures across the region due to the prevailing dry spell expected to persist throughout March. Despite experiencing rains and thunderstorms in the previous week, Nagpur has been sweltering under intense heat for the past few days.

Elsewhere in Maharashtra, Akola ranked as the second hottest place with temperatures reaching 40.5 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Malegaon at 40.8 degrees Celsius. Yavatmal, Bramhapuri, and Solapur also recorded temperatures above the 40-degree mark on Sunday.

Wardha claimed the third hottest spot in Vidarbha, registering a temperature of 39.9 degrees Celsius, while Amravati recorded 39.4 degrees Celsius. In contrast, Gadchiroli reported the lowest maximum temperature at 36.6 degrees Celsius.

Nighttime temperatures have also been on the rise, with Buldhana, Bramhapuri, Amravati, and Yavatmal experiencing minimum temperatures above 22 degrees Celsius, marking the hottest night temperatures thus far. Washim reported the lowest minimum temperature at 18.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Nagpur at 19.4 degrees Celsius, while all other areas in Vidarbha recorded minimum temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius.

With the escalating temperatures, residents have begun utilizing coolers and air conditioners in their homes, offices, and shops to combat the sweltering summer heat.
