Nagpur: The famous phrase “Tarikh Pe Tarikh”from Bollywood’s cult-classic Damini often highlights the procrastination associated with the legal system. However, it may seem ironic, but now it is appearing that the same “Tarikh Pe Tarikh”is being used by Nagpur Police in filing the bail cancellation application for accused Ritika alias Ritu Dinesh Malu in the sensational Mercedes accident on Ramjhula, which resulted in the deaths of two men on February 25.

It has been a week since the medical report of Ritika Malu, who was driving the luxury car (MH/49/AS/6111) that killed Mohammad Hussain Gulam Mustafa (34), a resident of Nalsahab Chowk, Mominpura, and Mohammad Atique Mohammad Ziya (32), a resident of Jafar Nagar, confirmed alcohol content in her blood sample. However, Nagpur Police are yet to file a bail cancellation application in court.

Though, speaking on this matter, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 3 Gorakh Bhamre informed Nagpur Today that, cops are going to file bail cancellation today itself.

It is worth mentioning that even after the confirmation of alcohol in the blood, the police waited 48 hours to amend charges from 304 (A) to 304 and inform the court. And now a week has passed, yet the police are yet to file a bail cancellation application, proving the “Tarikh Pe Tarikh” phrase ideal for this scenario.

It is pertinent to mention that sensation had prevailed in the Tehsil area in the wee hours of Sunday, February 25, after a reckless Mercedes car mowed down two men.

The incident had sparked controversy in the Second Capital of the State, with family members alleging that the accused used their money and contacts to brush the matter under the carpet.

Earlier, speaking to Nagpur Today, Mayuresh Bushan Dadwe, the eyewitness of the sensational Mercedes accident at Ram Jhula, narrated critical details of the accident night while speaking with Nagpur Today.

He confirmed that associates of the accused Ritika alias Ritu Dinesh Malu and Madhuri Shishir Sarda threw liquor bottles from Ram Jhula.

However, the “Tarikh Pe Tarikh” tactics of Nagpur Police put a serious question on the manner of investigation and proceedings as it involves an influential figure.
