Nagpur: In a significant operation against cattle and beef smugglers, Yashodhara Nagar police intercepted a truck carrying 15,000 kg of beef destined for Hyderabad in the early hours of Tuesday. The police seized the consignment, impounded the truck, and arrested two suspects involved in the illegal trade.
The two men taken into custody have been identified as Sayed Harun (38) and Samr Khan (37). However, two other key suspects, Jiya Qureshi and Rizwan Hazi, the truck’s owner, remain at large.
Acting on a tip-off, Yashodhara Nagar police were alerted to a truck transporting beef from Kamptee to Hyderabad. Officers set up a trap in Nagpur and successfully intercepted the vehicle near Automotive Square on Kamptee Road. Upon inspection, the large quantity of beef was discovered, leading to the immediate arrest of the driver and cleaner. Information provided by the suspects pointed to the involvement of the other two accused.
