In Nagpur, police have filed a case against Badal Raut, the city president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), and his associates, along with the manager of a hoarding company, for putting up defamatory hoardings about former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh at Ramnagar Square. The hoardings, displayed this morning, accused Deshmukh of being involved in extortion and depicted him in prison.

Members of the Nationalist Youth Congress filed a complaint regarding this issue at the Ambazari Police Station. The police investigated the incident, ordered the removal of the hoardings, and filed charges against Raut, his associates, and the hoarding company manager.

This incident has reignited the war of words between Devendra Fadnavis and Anil Deshmukh. Deshmukh referred to a three-year-old case where allegations were made against him by Param Bir Singh and Sachin Vaze. Deshmukh stated that during an 11-month investigation led by Justice Chandewal, Vaze, who is an accused terrorist and involved in two murder cases, testified in court that neither Deshmukh nor his associates had demanded money from him, nor had he paid them. Deshmukh accused Fadnavis of making politically motivated accusations based on false claims by a criminal.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis countered Deshmukh’s allegations, stating that it is unlikely for a police officer to accuse a sitting Home Minister on the instructions of an opposition leader, as officers are naturally concerned about their jobs. Fadnavis dismissed Deshmukh’s claims as baseless, reiterating his criticism of the former Home Minister.
