Nagpur: NMC Commissioner limits monthly expenditure of zones

Nagpur: Commissioner Virendra Singh on Thursday sent shock waves from top to bottom in the administration of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) by making it mandatory to create and maintain record of all sanctioned projects and their cost.

As per the directives issued by the Commissioner keeping in view the financial crunch in the Corporation, the annual expenditure of all zone has been fixed at Rs 6 crores. The zonal assistant commissioner and department chief, zonal deputy commissioner, upper commissioner and zonal commissioner have been given rights to sanction proposals worth Rs 3 lakh, Rs 6 lakh, Rs 10 lakh and Rs 25 lakh respectively.

The monthly expenditure limit for zonal assistant commissioner and department chief, zonal deputy commissioner and upper commissioner has been set as Rs 20 lakh, Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh respectively. The right to sanction proposal of above Rs 10 lakh will remain with the Commissioner.

The NMC Commissioner’s directives have shocked everyone from junior engineer to ward office in the NMC administration.
