Nagpur Mayor Nita Thackeray Calls for Collective Commitment to a Clean and Green City on Maharashtra Day

Nagpur: On the occasion of Maharashtra Day, Nagpur Mayor Nita Thackeray urged citizens to work together towards building a clean, beautiful, and environmentally sustainable Nagpur. She emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring the long-term development of the city, known as Maharashtra’s second capital.

The Maharashtra Day celebration was आयोजित by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation at its headquarters lawn on May 1. The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Leela Hathibed, ruling party leader Narendra (Balya) Borkar, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin, along with several elected representatives and senior civic officials.

The program began with Mayor Nita Thackeray hoisting the national flag and paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the formation of Maharashtra. She also extended greetings to citizens on International Workers’ Day.

Addressing the gathering, Mayor Thackeray highlighted that Maharashtra has earned global recognition due to the bravery of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and citizens take immense pride in this legacy. She noted that the state continues to be guided by the progressive ideals of leaders like Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

She further stated that Nagpur, as the state’s second capital, holds a unique identity and is witnessing continuous development under the vision of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, whose political journey began in the city.

During the event, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin welcomed the Mayor by presenting a ceremonial shawl and a Tulsi sapling. Additional Commissioner Ankit felicitated the Deputy Mayor, while Assistant Commissioner Rajkumar Meshram welcomed other dignitaries on stage in a similar manner.
