Nagpur: A man from Nagpur has been arrested for abandoning a 4-year-old boy on a train and fabricating a kidnapping story, according to police officials on Sunday. Hansraj Dyaneshwar Dakhne, 25, saw the child as an obstacle in his relationship with the boy’s mother.
On Friday, Dakhne allegedly left the boy on a Wardha-bound train before falsely claiming that the child had been kidnapped by three men. The boy’s mother, who had separated from her husband due to marital issues, had moved to Nagpur and was working at a lodge when she met Dakhne. The two subsequently entered into a relationship.
Dakhne, however, sought to remove the boy from their lives. Pretending to take the child for school admission on Friday, he abandoned the boy on the train and returned to tell the mother that the child had been kidnapped. Distressed, the woman approached the police.
Upon questioning, Dakhne confessed to abandoning the child. The Ganeshpeth police, with assistance from the Government Railway Police (GRP), located the boy at Wardha railway station and reunited him with his mother.
Hansraj Dakhne has been arrested and faces charges including abandoning a child and kidnapping under the Indian Penal Code, an official stated.
