
Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, police from Bajaj Nagar Police Station apprehended a man involved in the illegal transportation of foreign liquor and seized contraband along with a vehicle collectively valued at over ₹15 lakh.
According to police sources, the complainant, Police Constable Sanjiv Tayde, along with members of the investigation team—including Head Constable Chandrashekhar Tarale and Woman Police Constable Rani Karade—were on routine patrol under instructions from senior officials to trace illegal activities such as unlawful liquor trade and transportation.
Interception Near Jalebi Chowk
At around 3:45 pm, the team received credible information from an informant that an individual was transporting foreign liquor illegally near Burhanpur Jalebi Chowk in Kotwali area. Acting swiftly, police reached the location and intercepted the suspect along with a four-wheeler.
Liquor Stock Recovered
During the search of the vehicle’s boot, police recovered:
12 sealed bottles (650 ml each) of Budweiser Magnum Beer valued at approximately ₹3,120
12 sealed bottles (650 ml each) of Kingfisher Strong Premium Beer worth around ₹2,340
12 sealed bottles (650 ml each) of Tuborg Premium Strong Beer valued at about ₹2,400
Additionally, a white Hyundai Creta car (Registration No. MH-31 EU 1451) estimated to be worth ₹15 lakh was seized. The total value of the confiscated property stands at ₹15,07,860.
Case Registered
Based on the seizure, police registered an offence under Crime No. 173/2026 under Sections 65(a)(e) of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act against the accused.
Operation Conducted Under Senior Supervision
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishikesh Reddy Singa Reddy (Zone 1), Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish Gurav (Sonegaon Division), and Senior Police Inspector Chetansingh Chauhan of Bajaj Nagar Police Station.
The team included PSI Deepak Pawar, Head Constable Chandrashekhar Tarale, Constable Nadeem, Sanjiv Tayde, and Woman Police Constable Rani Karade.
Further investigation is currently underway.
