Nagpur: In a shocking late-night incident in Nagpur, a heavily intoxicated truck driver went on a reckless rampage, ramming into four cars in quick succession and endangering multiple lives. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar Police Station on Sunday night.
According to police, the mishap took place between 8:30 pm and 9:00 pm on Piplá Phata Road, when the driver of an Eicher truck, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control of the vehicle and began driving at high speed on the wrong side of the road.

The truck first crashed into a Swift Dzire car carrying a retired police officer and his family. Despite the impact, the accused did not stop. Instead, in an apparent attempt to flee, he sped ahead and rammed into three more vehicles, causing extensive damage.
Eyewitnesses described the driver’s behaviour as extremely reckless, stating that the truck was moving at a dangerously high speed and posed a serious threat to commuters.
Displaying prompt action, local residents chased the truck for nearly a kilometre and managed to intercept it in the Mhalgi Nagar area. An angry crowd overpowered the driver and handed him over to the police.
Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and took the accused into custody. Preliminary investigation confirmed that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the incident. A case has been registered against him under relevant sections for rash and negligent driving, endangering public safety, and drunk driving.
While no casualties were reported, several vehicles were badly damaged, averting what could have been a major tragedy.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who have demanded stringent action against drunk driving offenders. Police officials stated that further investigation is underway.
