Nagpur: Departing from the usual transfer process for constabulary, the Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar allotted on-the-spot postings allowing eligible cops to work at police stations or units of their choice on the basis of availability. Around 1000 police personnel got postings as per their requests.
According to a report in local media, earlier, the constables had no say in their transfers which were communicated through a general list issued after the process was completed by the established board. The top cop also decided to provide additional manpower to many police stations on the basis of crime statistics and past incidents.
The report further said that around 800 eligible cops had turned out for administrative transfers and another 200-250 with special requests. The Commissioner of Police allotted postings to the cops in an open gathering on the basis of choices requested by them in their applications. DCP, Headquarters, Sandeep Pakhale and Additional CP Sunil Fulari were present during the process.
The transfer list was read out, updated in presence of every one and postings were done in an open hall. The transparent process will have no room for any allegations or malpractices in the present system, a police officer said.
