Nagpur: An adage goes that Justice delayed is justice denied…While this saying goes in sync with all the cases here comes a case in Nagpur in which case was heard and verdict given in the fastest ever time, but you justice appears to be denied! Simplifying matters for you, let us tell you that the District and Sessions Court in Nagpur has heard a case of molestation and delivered the verdict in flat 9 days!
The could perhaps be the fastest delivery of justice in any case anywhere, in which the District and Sessions Court in Nagpur announced the verdict on the ninth day of the alleged incident. But in this case the accused was aquitted and given the benefit of doubt.
“District and Sessions Judge Pushpa Ganediwala acquitted accused Ritik Kathane (18) giving him a benefit of doubt in the absence of strong evidence on Monday,” said Additional Public Prosecutor Rajendra Mendhe, who pleaded the case on behalf of the 14-year-old complainant from Saoner town, about 40 km from here.
The girl and her family had lodged the complaint on July 4, alleging that Ritik used to stalk her, often stopping her and asking if she would become his girlfriend. “The girl had complained that he had also threatened her saying he had her video and that she should give him Rs 5,000 or he may harm her,” Mendhe said.
