Nagpur: In a major anti-corruption action, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has caught a revenue assistant red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹5 lakh at the Nagpur Collector’s Office, exposing a serious case of bribery within the administration.
The accused has been identified as Naresh Sadhuraoji Barve (54), who was working as a revenue assistant in the Collector’s Office.
According to preliminary information, Barve had allegedly demanded ₹5 lakh from a complainant to settle a decision in an appeal related to a construction matter. Following the complaint, the ACB laid a trap to verify and act on the allegations.
During the trap operation conducted on Saturday, Barve was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount. The incident has raised serious concerns about functioning within the Collector’s Office and has created a stir in administrative circles.
Authorities are now investigating whether more individuals are involved in the case. Further legal action is being initiated under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
