Nagpur: In a cleverly hatched plan to crack down on the interstate gang which has been giving an eyesore to both the police and public for quite some, three cops smartly masqueraded their looks with the members of specific community and ultimately nabbed the perpetrators.

The finely scripted action went exactly as per the plan and the undercover cops tracked the gang members effectively. The detection branch of Panchpaoli police station has seized 5 guns, 7 magazines and 23 bullets from the possession of the members and also arrested 5 people in this connection. A trader from Yavatmal is also included among the arrested people.

The cops arrested Sikandar Khan alias Sonu, 25, Saddam Khan, 23, Moheb Khan, 26 and Salman Arif Ansari, 25, after laying a trap at Mahendra Nagar in Teka. Interestingly, the gang has been flourishing on code words. They would use word ‘capsule’ for bullet. The pistols they had, were up for sale in the price range of Rs 35,000 to Rs 70,000.

Simultaneously, the trader from Yavatmal identified as Prajwal Chavan, 25 was also arrested.
The gang members have allegedly sold atleast 2 dozen guns in Nagpur. It is learnt that the guns were fetched from Sagar in Madhya Pradesh.

Upon receiving a tip off, PSI PR Ingley and Vinod Dhongade, constables Rajesh Deshmukh, Pradeep Pawar, Vijay Yadav, Vinod Gaikwad, Vinod Barde, Mahesh Jadhav and Swati Mohade hatched a plan.

Ingley along with constables Deshmukh and Swati Mohade wore the attire of specific community. In the story, Swati acted as the lonely wife of gangster who is in jail. She messaged Sikander to meet her on Valentine’s Day. Meanwhile, she also alerted the cops to lay the trap. When Sikander arrived cops waiting in the autorickshaw intercepted him and recovered firearm. Sikander then took the cops to Saddam, Salman and Moheb.
