Nagpur: The Nagpur Police have prohibited use of high intensity beam lights within the radius of 15 kilometers of the airfield in Sonegaon and Shivangaon areas as they are likely to cause accidents during landing and take-off of aircraft at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.

Joint Commissioner of Police Aswathi Dorje promulgated the orders in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure prohibiting use of beam lights in the area as they are usually projected skywards during weddings and festivals and cause disturbances to pilots while landing and take-off.

Following complaints by some of the pilots to the Air Traffic Control (ATC), the use of beam lights has been prohibited from 6 pm to 6 am daily. The orders will remain in force for the coming two months. Those violating the orders will be penalized.
