There are 8,000 Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) with district administrations. However, a total of 14,000 EVMs are needed in Nagpur and Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency.

If required staff from Food Distribution Department could be absorbed for election purpose. District administration has estimated to complete this work till April 2014. The work is under way at Shetkari Bhavan and Government building, however, the same work would soon start in other offices. The work is being carried out under the guidance of District Collector Saurabh Rao.

60% staff from Revenue Department has been deployed for election duty. And the same staff looks after the National Security Food Act, and with more than half the staff involved in election duty, the Department is failing to deliver their duty properly.

It must be noted that the deployed staff could face strict action against them if they reject to perform their election duties.

Officers were involved in filling voting forms, checking and introduction to voters’ list. Just after they were relieved of their Graduate’s Constituency duties, they were assigned for election duties under the leadership of Collector Saurabh Rao.
