Chaos ruled supreme when the Police Post situated at Shatabdi Square suddenly caught fire on Tuesday night. Soon, all the material kept in the Police Post turned into rubble. A police constable, Bhaskar Murkute, who was having a deep sleep, sensed the burning smell in the nick of time and fled the smoldering spot to save his life. But before Murkute could raise an alarm and act to douse the flames, the fire had gone out of his reach. The fire, suspected to be caused by a short circuit, destroyed crucial documents such as Maintenance Diary, Crime Record, Wireless Machine, Walkie-Talkie phones and other material within no time.
