My fans have made me Tamilian: Rajinikanth responds to Swamy’s jibe

Chennai: On the last day of his interaction with fans superstar Rajinikanth responded to BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s quip that the actor was not even Tamilian.

Meeting fans in Kodambakkam in Chennai, today, Rajinikanth first spoke about the speculations of his entering politics. “I have responsibilities and work. It’s the same with you. Let’s do that first. But when the ultimate war comes, we all will see”.

Then, responding to Swamy’s quip, Rajinikanth said his fans had made him Tamilian.

Subramanian Swamy has gone on record to say that Rajinikanth is a “Marathi from Bengaluru.” Swamy also took potshots at the megastars fans: It is a cult following, he said.

However, Swamy denied he had made the statement, saying, “I never said Rajinikanth is not Tamilian; don’t think he’s addressing me but the DMK, who always made an issue of his Marathi origin.”

Rajinikanth also said today that his last interaction with fans was blown out of proportion and became a controversy on social media.

On Monday, the actor had triggered rumours of a political plunge saying he would not allow “wrong people” to join him if he decided to enter politics.

In an open interaction with his fans, Rajinikanth had said, Right now God is using me as an actor, but I cant say anything about the future. If God decides that I join politics, then I will do so.

Congress leader Nagma said Rajinikanth would be an asset to any party.
