Nagpur: Economic planning is done on various schemes through the District Planning Committee (DPC). However, some of these schemes started by the Fadnavis government have been discontinued by the present MVA Government. After stopping grants for the inter-caste marriage scheme, the MVA Government has stopped the grant for Mukhyamantri Gramin Sadak Vikas Yojana. With the closure of both these schemes, it has been claimed that the funds will be diverted to other development works of Nagpur district.

The Mukhyamantri Gramin Sadak Vikas Yojana was started in the state during the tenure of then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the lines of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Vikas Yojana. It is estimated that more than 500 km of roads have been constructed in Nagpur district. This scheme was earlier financed by the District Planning Committee. A 15 percent fund was reserved for this. But now no provision has been made by the District Planning Committee for the scheme.

The District Planning Committee has approved Rs 625 crore for the year 2022-23. The fund was Rs 125 crore more as compared to the last financial year, which is the highest amount received by the district so far. Rs 500 crore fund was received in the year 2021-22.

The District Planning Committee was also giving grants for rural roads, Jalyukt Shivar and inter-caste marriages. But the Maha Vikas Aghadi Government has stopped the Jalyukt Shivar Yojana. The Chief Minister has decided to provide funds at the government level for rural road development and inter-caste marriage schemes.
