Police Department in city was found on its toes when a murder accused escaped from police custody in court premises on Friday (December 26). Cops have sealed all the exit points and stepped up vigil at check posts. Massive hunt is also launched at all possible places in the city to trace the absconding murder accused.

According to sources and reports, the murder accused Aakash alias Gittu Surajkar (20) was taken to the court for the ongoing trial. He is facing trial for murder he allegedly committed in Jaripatka area a few months ago. After the court proceeding was over, the murder accused Aakash Surajkar was being taken to the police van. However, at the time of boarding the van, the accused pushed aside a woman police constable forcefully and escaped from the spot. The accused was allegedly seen seating on a ‘waiting’ motorcycle of a ‘friend’ and speeding away, said the sources.

The escape of the murder accused triggered a chaos with accompanying policemen scurrying a chase but the sudden development proved a failure for their efforts. The policemen’s only success was that they rushed to Sadar Police Station and lodged a complaint in this connection. Sadar cops too swung into action and alerted the police control room. The control room then  alerted the entire police machinery and subsequently all escape routes were sealed and the vigil stepped up. A hunt has been launched the trace and recapture the escaped murder accused Aakash alias Gittu Surajkar.

The most baffling aspect of the escape was the presence of the murder accused Surajkar’s friend at the spot with motorcycle in the nick of time. Was the escape pre-planned with all communication through mobile phones in place? Wherefrom the accused got the mobile phone while still in police custody?
