Mumbai’s wanted goon, two bogus policemen, others nabbed by Crime Branch

Nagpur: Friday the December 11 proved a cracker of a day for Crime Branch of Nagpur Police as they nabbed an absconding criminal wanted by Mumbai cops, and two bogus policemen and their woman accomplice who were on looting spree in city.

In the first success, the Crime Branch sleuths received a tip off from Kandivali (Mumbai) API Dahifade that a wanted criminal Mohammed Shoeb Shaukat Ali Mansuri is staying in Mominpura area of the city. Accordingly, acting on the tip-off, a squad of Mumbai police and Nagpur Crime Branch sleuths swooped on Al Qadir Guest House, Room No. 103, Mominpura, at 5.30 in the morning of Friday and nabbed Mohammed Shoeb Shaukat Ali Mansuri (22), resident of Mumbai, and his two other accomplices named Rahul Ramesh Pawar (35) of Gorewada, Mumbai and Sanjaykumar Gagankumar Mahanti (35) of Nalsopara, Thane. Upon frisking of the arrested criminals, cops seized two hand-made pistols with five rounds, a knife, cash of Rs 1,19,800, yellow metal and silver ornaments, I-phone of Apple Company, Samsung mobile handset, Gioni mobile phone, Nokia cell phone and a Pulsar motorcycle from their possession. The collective value of seized stuff is Rs 6,13,941.

The arrested goons were booked under Sections 3+25, 4+25 of Arms Act read with Sub-Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act. Cops have mounted an in-depth probe to ascertain involvement of the arrested accused in the nature of crimes.

Similarly, a Crime Branch team on patrol duty received a secret information that a woman suspect Rita Christopher Peter (38), resident of New Babulkheda Parvati Nagar, and her two accomplices Pramod Suresh Shirpure (39) of Kukde Layout and Yogesh Kashiram Salve (39) of Bhimnagar were involved in a cheating offence. Armed with the information, the cops mounted a search of Rita and traced her. On sustained grilling, Rita told the police that she along with accused Pramod Shirpure and Yogesh Salve had committed cheating and looting crimes. In fact, the accused Pramod and Yogesh posed themselves as bogus policemen and tricked and robbed gullible citizens of their gold ornaments. A number of such crimes were reported recently. Subsequently, all the three accused were placed under arrest. Cops have seized an Apple cell phone, cash of Rs 2340, some foreign currency, purse etc from the possession of arrested accused.

With the arrest of threesome, cops are likely to crack many cases in which fake policemen tricked and robbed senior citizens in different areas of the city.
