MTDC to undertake makeover of Ambazari Lake & Garden

Nagpur: In a good news, the State Government has decided to assign Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) the work of makeover of Ambazari Lake and Garden, a special attraction for Nagpurians. 19 acres of land out of 44 acres will be given to MTDC on lease for transformation of Ambazari Lake. A proposal in this regard has been cleared by Minister of State for Revenue Sanjay Rathod.

While developing Ambazari Lake and Garden, the MTDC will create an amusement park for tourists. 44 acres of land of Ambazari Lake is under Nagpur Municipal Corporation. A proposal to transfer this land from NMC to MTDC was prepared by the Revenue Department. The Chief Minister was also interested in makeover of Ambazari Lake along with water sports, high-quality amusement facilities as well as turning the lake a tourist attraction. In view of the Chief Minister’s plan, the Minister of State for Revenue Sanjay Rathod approved the proposal of handing over half of the 44 acres of land to MTDC. Accordingly, 19 acres of land will be provided to MTDC on lease at the rate of Re 1 for a period of 30 years. The remaining 19 acres of land will remain under NMC. Ambazari Lake is spread over on six acre land.

The makeover of Ambazari Lake will cost MTDC Rs 9 crore. The makeover through MTDC will see Club House, Cafeteria, Urban Huts and other tourist facilities coming up at the spot. With this makeover, Nagpur will occupy a place on the map of tourist destinations of Maharashtra.
