Marbat Celebration
Nagpur
: A festival named Kali and Pili Marbat which is celebrated in Nagpur is among the unique festivals celebrated in the world. The tradition of the festival where the effigies of Kali and Pili Marbat are taken around the city in a big parade started in the year 1885.

In the olden days, the Marbat used to be on British atrocities while today it is based on various difficulties that we are facing in our day to day lives. Nagpur is the only city in India where the event is observed and a rally taken out on the harvest festival of Maharashtra Pola. Today, it is very important that we reach our cultural heritage to the culture, tradition lovers of the world. However, it is sad to note that the department which is supposed to promote and propagate the rich culture, and traditions of Maharashtra, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) does not seem to be very enthusiastic about this.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting every country and is propogating about the rich and varied traditions and culture of India and is attracting tourists to visit India. A similar attempt is being carried out by Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis.

Marbat Celebration
The officials of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) have done nothing to propagate and popularize the festival this year. Sources claimed that just for show-off, last year the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) was the main organizer for the event, but this year, they are showing no interest in the event.

While speaking to Nagpur Today, the Regional Head of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) Hanumant Hede said that they are morally supporting the event. This attitude shows the lack of enthusiasm in promoting such an age old traditional event.

If this event is promoted and propagated in the right manner through media and publicity, then Nagpur will certainly witness a large of tourists visiting us to view the event.

Six main Marbats this year
This year the Marbats are going to be on Chaggan Bhujbaal, Shobha De, ISIS, NMC, Ache Swapne Dikhane Wale and Pakistan Soldiers and Terrorism.
