MSEDCL to keep eye on power theft during Ganeshotsav

Nagpur: With the onset of Ganesh festival, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has issued directives to all the offices of MSEDCL to provide uninterrupted and quality supply by undertaking maintenance and repair work on top priority and also to mend hanging wires which could cause danger to the procession of Ganesha’s arrival and immersion to ensure safety.

The power tariff for the temporary connections to be provided to the public mandals has been fixed at Rs 4.38 per unit excluding fuel surcharge. The rate is just 13 paise higher than domestic tariff and less by Rs 2.90 as compared to the commercial tariff. The public mandals are encouraged to obtain necessary permissions along with authorized temporary power connections by participating in the single window scheme.

Instructions have also been issued to encourage those mandals who will be observed to have taken unauthorised connection by explaining them the consequences of stealing power and violation of safety issues in such connections, and also take strict actions against those who do not comply. The supply of such mandals might also be snapped immediately.

Instructions have also said to have been issued that the zonal officers, sub divisional officers and branch officers should be present personally in the office until the entire process of immersion completes to ensure continuous supply without interruption to be available during the period of immersion.

The officers have also been issued with the instructions to provide the temporary supply at the various points of immersion immediately on the day of Ganesh Visarjan.
