MSEDCL snaps power connections of 16,589 bill defaulters in Nagpur Zone

Nagpur: In a major crackdown against bill defaulters, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has snapped power supply of total 16,589 consumers including residential, commercial and industrial consumers in 11 districts of Nagpur Zone. The power connections were disconnected in the month of February alone.

In the beginning of February, Rs 70.31 crore dues were pending on 1.76 lakh consumers in MSEDCL’s Nagpur Zone. Out of this, Rs 22.91 lakh were recovered from 1.1 lakh consumers.

Power connections were disconnected of 10,498 defaulters on temporarily while power supply of 6091 defaulters was disconnected permanently.

Maximum 7148 consumers belonged to Akola Division followed by 5137 consumers in Amravati, 2006 consumers in Nagpur, 1643 in Chandrapur and 655 in Gondia Division. These consumers will have to pay their outstanding as well as the reconnection charges to get their connections back.
