Nagpur: The Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar on Saturday joined officials and employees of NMC’s in carrying out cleanliness drive and ‘Shramdan at Ambazari, Futala, Gandhisagar, Sakkardara tank, Naik Talav, and Maharajbagh Zoo premises.
At Ambazari Lake, the Municipal Commissioner Hardikar and Chairman of Health Committee Devendra Mehar themselves wielded brooms and cleaned the premises marking beginning of ‘Shramdan.’ Others who participated the cleanliness drive include Zone Chairperson Varsha Thakre, Chairman of Slums Eradication and Housing Sandeep Jadhav, Corporator Ujwala Bankar, Additional Commissioner Nayana Gunde, Deputy Commissioner Ranjana Lade, Health Deputy Director Dr Milind Ganvir, Dharampeyh Assistant Commissioner Rajesh Karade, Mangalwari Zone Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Dhamecha, Dhantoli Zone Assistant Commissioner Subhashchandra Jaideo, Assistant Commissioner Prakash Varade, Medical Officer Dr Pradeep Dasarwar, Green Vigil Foundation’s Kaustubh Chatterjee, Surbhi Jaiswal and her team, Government Mental Hospital’s Arun Ghonghale, and a large number of other officials and citizens.
The Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, on the occasion, embarked on a bicycle from his Civil Lines-based residence and rode to Ambazari and Futala Lakes to participate in the cleanliness drive and ‘Shramdan.’
Gandhisagar premises: The Zone Chairperson Prabha Jagnade, Corporator Harshala Sable, former Corporator Manoj Sable, Assistant Commissioner Ashok Patil, Assistant Commissioner Dilip Patil, among others participated in the drive.
Sakkardara Lake premises: The cleanliness campaign was undertaken here in the presence of Nehrunagar Zone Chairperson Manisha Kothe, Corporators Pravin Narad, Sanjay Mahakalkar, Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Morone, Assistant Commissioner Raju Bhivgade, and others.
Maharajbagh Zoo premises: Under Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan, officials and employees of NMC undertook cleanliness and ‘Shramdan’ on Saturday from 8 am to 10 am. The venture was also participated by Centre for Sustainable Development Voluntary Organisation, Maharajbagh Administration and citizens in large number.
The Shramdan concept was initiated by Mayor Datke and Municipal Commissioner Hardikar under Swaccha Bharat campaign. Earlier on April 28, the Mayor and Commissioner had visited Ambazari Lake and after inspection, had selected the areas where Shramdan was to be carried out. Every Zone was given responsibility of 100 meters of jogging track and adjoining area for Shramdan. In this way, the entire area was cleaned up. Two boats and mobile ambulance were deployed by Fire Brigade to deal with any emergency during the Shramdan.
