MP man arrested for attacking brother-in-law, his wife with knife in MIDC

Nagpur: MIDC police have rounded-up a 31-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh (MP) for allegedly attempting to murder his brother-in-law with knife between the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. When the victim’s wife tried to intervene, the accused also injured her with the knife.

The accused has been identified as Angalal Tekram Katare, a resident of Rampayli, Pipriya, Khairlanji, Balaghat (MP). The seriously wounded victims Ramesh Shankar Bahetwar (27) and his wife Dhyaneshwari (23) were rushed to a nearby hospital.

According to police, the accused Katare came to Nagpur and went to Bahetwar’s resident in Gedam-Layout under MIDC police in the late hours of Thursday for taking his wife to MP. Around midnight, Katare reached Bahetwar’s house and found the couple sleeping. Katare sneaked inside their house and launched the murderous assault on Ramesh. Following which Dhyaneshwari tried to intervene in the matter. However, Katare also stabbed her and fled the spot.

Based on the statement of the Bahetwar couple, MIDC cops booked accused Katare under Sections 307, 324, 452 of the IPC read with 4/25 of the Indian Arms Act and Sub-section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act and later arrested him.
