Monika secures fourth place

Monika Raut, representing Maharashtra secured fourth place in 3000 metre steeple chase event in 50th Senior National Athletics Championship organised by Telangana Athletics Association at Hyderabad.

Uttar Pradesh athletes dominated this particular event by winning gold and silver medals. Parul Choudhary (10:46:92) bagged gold medal whereas her colleague Nandita Gupta (11:12) secured silver medal. Angel James (11.13 seconds) finished third. Maharashtra”s Monika clocked 11.20 seconds. Meanwhile another city athlete Asmita Davre failed to qualify for the final round of long jump. She jumped 5.10 metres.

Another Maharashtra’s international athlete Shraddha Ghule (5.98 m) secured third place. The secretary of Nagpur District Athletics Association Dr Sharad Suryavanshi has expressed satisfaction over the performance of state athletes.
